100th Millennium Wiki

Capitolis is an incredibly populated world located near the centre of the Eulciar. It is a tropical world, housing 29 trillion people of varying species.

Capitolis formed as a barren superterrestrial world, uninhabitable and uninhabited. For 6 billion years, it continued like this, unchanging, unchanged, until life arose once more.

When life arose once more in the galaxy, Capitolis was a prime target for terraformation. For a barren world, it had a remarkably thick atmosphere and frozen water deposits on its surface. It already had a magnetic field, and so the early Kajakali Nation came along and terraformed it.

Unfortunately, they had little experience terraforming the world, and ended up thickening the atmosphere twentyfold. The temperatures rose three hundred degrees, and the surface became (literally) like a oven.

In the early days of the Eulciar Union of Nations, they needed a capital. They wandered around the galaxy, looking for a world symbolically representative of all the struggles they had fought through and won, and Capitolis strode into the spotlight.

The EUN proceeded to terraform the world, and colonise it. In the act, they announced,

"We, the Namegi Union of Nation, now proclaim that the world formerly known as KN-23432-5, now Capitolis, will be the Capital of our nation. Its history demonstrates the horrors and triumphs of all sentients in the galaxy, and we hope it will inspire others to live peacefully."

With that, Capitolis became the capital of half the galaxy.

Modern History

As the population grew, Capitolis' resources and land became increasingly hard-pressed. Already, due to how multi-cultural and species the world was, large swaths of land had been terraformed to suit a particular species. It was finally proposed that the world become a ecumenopolis.

After twenty years of campaigning, the worlds urbanisation went underway. With large amounts of metals being brought on-world, it raised the population even more.

Capitolis grew.

Its surface was covered in metal, ever inch was made to accommodate something.

But even this wasn't enough.

The population grew so large that ecumenopolis Capitolis was crowded. The world became a matrioshka world with the merger of the all the millions of 'sky resorts', resorts floating in the air depicting what Capitolis had looked like before its urbanisation. Millions flocked to the surface, but there was strict population controls.

As of today, there are three layers, the original (metal), visible (sky resorts), and underrealm (the third layer which is going to accommodate more people but is still being constructed.

The Underrealm as of 100000 is a place of metal, heat and fumes. It is still being constructed, and so the atmosphere down there has not yet been cleaned and if you where to go out without an exosuit on you would die. From the fumes, and the heat emanating of the huge furnaces that refine the rocks they excavate as well as the heat trapped down there. A third factor is the core, which is closer.

The floor is coated in metal, but the skyscrapers have not yet fully been constructed yet, and so the Underrealm is akin to Capitolis' hell.

The map of the Original layer of Capitolis.

The Original surface of Capitolis is a ecumenopolis, covered in skyscrapers and urban conglomerates. In most places, skyscrapers block out the artificial sunlight made by the fusion reactors on the ceiling, whereas in other places it is more like a pleasant suburban region, with parks and shops.

Life here is of a good quality, but it is rare for a person to be born here to move away. One example of a rare person who did this is Enigallo Xeraret Ramenne, a politician who currently serves as the president of the Eulciar Union of Nations.

The Visible layer of Capitolis is a lush, pristine place where only the richest of the rich live. It is a natural reserve, almost perfectly mirroring Capitolis' Original layer before urbanisation and matrioshkaisation.

Capitolis has four moons - three minor and one major.

Marta is a tiny asteroidal moon that orbits insanely close to Capitolis. It has a semi-major axis of only 21 043.43 kilometres, a stunning 1297.56 kilometres above the surface of the planet. It has since been converted to a rotating habitat that holds twenty million people - one of the largest in orbit and the closest to the surface.

Marta appears to zoom from one horizon to the next from the surface of Capitolis in only 93 minutes! One can visibly see it moving, as well as make out large surface details.

Unbac is a asteroidal moon clearing the Unbac gap in Capitolis' rings. It is unpopulated, and has a large amount of impacts from the rings. Underground cities are under construction as of 100000, but no real people live here yet.

Keeols clears to Keeols gap in the rings, and is in most ways very similar to Unbac. However, Keeols has been observed to once every 26.445 days to jump around a third of the way through its orbit. All material that it would've influenced if it had gone there sub-light exhibits properties that reflect on it actually going there - but it didn't.

Ten years ago, a scientific outpost was established on Keeols to monitor and study these jumps. However, once it underwent a jump, the station immediately stopped broadcasting. A mission was sent there, and there was no sign of the crew. The computers had long since died, but before they had shut down their clocks recorded a date of 3rd of April, 36 934 024 565 CE. This is about six times as old as the universe itself, and it is still a mystery how the computers managed to run that long. The crew had long since decayed to dust, and there is evidence that many small ecosystems has evolved from their gut bacteria.

Currently, Keeols is under surveillance and monitoring. No people are allowed to enter the moon, for risk of being stuck on the moon when it undergoes a 'jump'.

Kislom is the one major moon is Capitolis. It is a heavily populated moon orbiting over a hundred thousand kilometres away from the planet itself. It has been terraformed, and is currently the seat of all government work, despite the ideas circulating that it actually happens at the core of Capitolis.
