Ekros is a major planet within the core of Via Lacrimosa. It is the capital of the nation Rendell and home to the Ekrosians. The planet appears to be tied to the anomalous manifestation of beings known as The Ekrosian Guardians, however, it does not seem to be anomalous itself. It is one of the most populated planets in Via Lacrimosa as well as one of the most important trading hubs in the galaxy. It is located thirty lightyears from the central black hole Demiurge.

The first life emerged on the planet 3.4 billion years before the common era. Sapience evolved on the planet around 50,000 BCE. The first sapient species, known as The Ekrosians, developed technology at fast rate. Already naturally evolving agricultural abilities, once true sapience emerged, the Ekrosians were able to quickly develop better means of agriculture. In 18,145 BCE, the Triumvirate Civilization took control of the planet and gave the Ekrosians advanced technology in exchange for loyalty. The Triumvirate held onto the planet until it was destroyed in 23,333 CE by a joint invasion by Sagittarium and Drusidia. Ekros became the local capital of a Sagittarian colony known as Rendell shortly thereafter.

Rendell experienced a large influx of immigrants, mostly Gainge, from the beginning. The higher living standards it had compared to nearby nations was a huge draw. After the dissolution of the Dominium of United Duchies in 63,150 CE, large numbers of Vexlore and Human refugees began arriving on Ekros. Within several years Ekrosians became a minority on their home world. They would remain at roughly 44% of the population until the beginning of the War of the Ancients. Sagittarium began heavily drafting soldiers from its colonies, many of which were from Ekros. Sagittarium's adversaries recognized the value Sagittarium had in its colonies and quickly invaded the region. Planets like Ekros became the site of many large-scale battles. After the war, Ekros became thoroughly depopulated to the point that there were only about two million Ekrosians left on the planet. Repopulation efforts have mostly recovered the population, however, Ekrosians still remain a minority.
