Florathel is a large, extremely flocculent spiral galaxy. It is located near the edge of the Local Universe, roughly fifteen million ly away from Via Aylathiya. Florathel is known mostly for its rather large size, being the largest galaxy in the Local Universe. The galaxy contains many life-forms, and is remarkably decentralized compared to its neighbors. The galaxy is controlled by hundreds of different empires and republics, many of which are partially unified into an organization known as the United Nations of the Florathel Galaxy.
Overview
Florathel is the largest galaxy in the local universe, housing over a trillion stars and is the home galaxy of numerous civilizations. Some consider it to be a barred spiral, but the bar is so subtle that it might as well not be there. Notably, Florathel is the home galaxy of the United Nations of the Florathel Galaxy, one of the most prominent forces in the entire Universe. The extreme distance of Florathel to other galaxies means that it is very difficult for extra galactic nations to colonize it, and the only extragalactic colony in modern history was rapidly abandoned due to unreasonably long transit times.
It was the home galaxy of the Providence Union, a vast empire covering most of the galaxy. It was destroyed by a hail of black hole bombs by a large band of rebels over a billion years ago. It was also the home galaxy of the Lareas Alliance, and therefore has the most remnants from it.
Nomenclature
The word Florathel comes from the ancient Nalach word for bloom or flower. The earliest form of the Nalach language likely called it something along the lines of Fyoratel, but most data on languages that far back is lost.
In other languages, the galaxy is called other things. For example, in the language currently used in the northern portion of the Trezhath, the galaxy is called Kafalgir, meaning "starry road", referencing the appearance of a galactic arm in the sky. In the language of the early industrial Salakela, it was called Marathei, meaning "plume of eggs". This unexpected meaning references the fact that the Salakela reproduce by spreading unfertilized eggs into the water, forming a milky white plume.
The last common name for the galaxy is the Safe Haven. This originates from the fact that the galaxy is seem as safer than others by many species. This name appears in many languages, in different forms.
Simplified Timeline
- Formation Era (13,100,000,000-11,800,000,000 BCE): This was when Florathel and its satellites were forming. The galaxy and most of the rest of the universe was completely uninhabitable during this time, as there was an extreme overabundance of large stars that went supernova.
- Pre-Providence Union Era (11,800,000,000-2,400,000,000 BCE): In this era, many civilizations rose and fell, ranging from embryonic to almost type III. This is when the Lareas Alliance briefly conquered most of Florathel, before it completely vanished off the map, leaving nothing but ruined dyson swarms.
- Providence Union Era (2,400,000,000-950,000,000 BCE): This is when the mid-type III Providence Union united the galaxy and has begun to colonize the satellites. Near the end of this era, hundreds of black hole bombs went off, utterly destroying most of the major systems. What was left was unable to pick up the pieces, and the Union collapsed. It is still unknown who triggered the bombs.
- Post-Providence Union Era (950,000,000-4,000,000 BCE): Not much happened in this era.
- Telusian Civilization Era (4,000,000-3,000,000 BCE): This is the era when the galaxy was under the control of the Telusian Civilization.
- Present Era (3,000,000 BCE-present day): The current era. This era is filled with the birth of hundreds of civilizations, from embryonic to late Kardashev II. One of the most powerful existing ones is the Cnara-Frealee Federation.

History
Formation Era (13,100,000,000-11,800,000,000 BCE):
Florathel formed roughly 13.1 billion years ago, and the The Heart of Providence was created from a collapse of dust clouds in the deep core of the galaxy around this time as well. By 12.6 billion years ago, all of the satellites of the galaxy had formed. The galaxy was pretty much lifeless before 11.8 billion years ago, as supernovas were going off everywhere.
The first life appeared almost as soon as it could, estimated at 11.75 billion years ago. No one knows where, as no evidence survives from this time. Roughly a billion years after this, some civilizations probably formed, but as the galaxy was still fairly violent, they were probably wiped out fairly rapidly.
Pre-Providence Union Era (11,800,000,000-2,400,000,000 BCE):
Very little evidence survives from this era, although the largest civilizations which existed during this time period are discernible. During this era, the Lareas Alliance coalesced from several small warring states throughout Lareas. However, from these inauspicious beginnings, the Lareas Alliance became the largest civilization in the entire history of the local universe. The Lareas Alliance would conquer the entire region and even began testing time technology. One such test created the anomalous star Aeternum and released a shockwave which wiped out all life in the Local Universe, but leaving all structures completely unaffected.
The Kaumann Empire arose pretty much as soon as any civilization could after this event and begun colonizing Florathel. However, their civilization was destroyed by civil war, wreaking havoc throughout the entire galaxy and rendering the majority of the galaxy lifeless. After this occurred, many civilizations rose and fell, ranging from tiny type-0 civilizations to vast civilizations controlling a large portion of the galaxy. Because of the fertility of Florathel, there are too many to list here.
Near the end of this era, Morid Flash occurred, a near-simultaneous supernovaing of multiple high-mass stars which wiped out all life in Morid. The formation of all these stars also deprived the galaxy of all gas and dust, preventing any new life from forming in the galaxy, and today it contains no stars with a mass higher than 1.4 stellar masses.
At the end of this era, several species arose in the deep core of Florathel. They soon merged into a civilization which would go on to rule the galaxy, the Providence Union.
Providence Union Era (2,400,000,000-950,000,000 BCE):
The Providence Union is the era from the galaxy's past that we know most about, thanks to the Glanadi Archives, a vast archive of all the information known to the Providence Union. However, over the intervening years, the Glanadi Archives have decayed significantly, although much of their contents are still readable.
The Providence Union itself was founded shortly before the official start of the Providence Union Era. After their founding they rapidly expanded and conquered vast amounts of territory, becoming the first native civilization that is confirmed to have conquered a supermajority of the galactic disk. The Union went through many iterations, rising and falling, but each of them shared one defining feature: corruption. Much of the resources created by species across the Providence Union were funneled into the luxurious city-worlds of the deep core, leaving the vast majority of the territory of the Union in crushing poverty (with exactly one known exception, Suloom).
Because of this, a vast organized rebellion secretly constructed Penrose Spheres around every catalogued black hole in the territory of the union, but because of an error, the ones located in the galactic disk, intended to power a new regime after the fall of the Union, were never harvested, and instead exploded with the power of a hypernova. This was visible across the universe, and it killed off roughly 80 percent of all species located in Florathel. This brought about the end of the Providence Union era.
Post-Providence Union Era (950,000,000-4,000,000 BCE):
The Post-Providence Union Era began with the death of uncounted numbers of people and a mass extinction across the galaxy the likes of which hadn't been seen since the Aeternum Event. For the first fourth of the era, everyone in the galaxy was reeling from the catastrophic events of the Fall of the Providence Union, and no one really did much. Unbeknownst to all but the tiniest number of individuals, a tiny faction of the Providence Union, based on the moon of Derana, had survived, and were making plans to bring back the glory of the Providence Union, no matter the cost.
However, their plans were put on hold after an accident with the device protecting their base at Derana, which caused the planet to seemingly cease to exist to the outside world unless they wanted to bring it back into phase, broke, causing the planet to be trapped in an inescapable bubble "universe". Although these events only came to light very, very recently, when they managed to fix the device, they were much weakened, and their attempt to reconquer Florathel failed catastrophically. Derana was not seen again until the modern era.
While the Derana Faction were trapped, civilizations rose and fell similiarly to the Pre-Providence Union Era, and nothing very notable or interesting happened. However, when the Faction escaped back into this universe, they probably would have reconquered the galaxy if it weren't for an unheard-of alliance between all civilizations in the galaxy except just a few to fight back the Derana Faction. As it was trapped, Derana and a bunch of unlucky ring particles formerly orbiting Derana's parent planet were heavily mined, creating the largest confirmed singular fleet in galactic history. If it weren't for this alliance, the galaxy would have fallen.
The Era came to an end with the invasion of the Telusian Civilization, wreaking havoc and killing off quadrillions of people.
Million Year War (3,000,000 BCE-2,000,000 BCE):
The galaxy was at peace after the expulsion of the invaders, but this was not to last. Without a common enemy, the nations of Florathel turned against each other. This resulted in what has been termed the Million Year War, a war which almost every nation which existed at the time participated. It wasn't really a single war, and more of a time when basically everyone was fighting each other. The reasons for and methods of fighting varied wildly between nations, and nations which participated in the start most likely no longer existed towards the end.
Uniquely for a period so close to the present, not much survives from this era. No one's completely sure why, but this means that modern historians only really know the broad strokes of what happened in this time, with virtually no details. The only detail modern people know is that the war was probably ended by the Battle of Providence, a battle which took place within the Inner Providence Cluster and involved the full military strength of every nation participating at the time. The battle decimated the military strength of every nation, ending the war in one fell swoop. There was no winner.
After the Million Year War, each and every nation was in economic ruin, and many of them collapsed right there. The galaxy fell into anarchy for the next million years or so.
First Modern Civilizations (1,000,000-90,000 BCE):
In the outer reaches of the Paleas Arm, a unique species evolved on the planet Erkamar. This species was a form of hive mind, with each "individual" being comprised of a huge number of tiny creatures. Once the species achieved space travel, they rapidly spread across their region of the galaxy. However, many of the colonies declared independence, and territory disputes flared up immediately. A tight web of alliances between each and every Faction (except one, this'll be important later) pulled them all into war.
Historians alive during the war would probably have no idea which way it was going to go, but they would not have put their money on the Akradax Faction, which wasn't even fighting. However, as the fighting began to die down and many of the nations had absolutely devastated armies, the Akradax Faction attacked. It had been expanding its armed forces since the beginning of the war and had the largest space fleet of all the factions at this point. It rapidly swept through and destroyed the factions nearest it, and eventually reconquered the area, founding the Akradax Collective in 230,047 BCE. The Collective survives to this day and is currently a member of the UNFG.
On the other end of the galaxy, within the halo, two worlds formed life within the absurdly huge Nalachi Cluster. One of them, the Elkeres species, achieved interstellar travel before the other and colonized approximately 2/3 of the cluster before running across the rapidly developing Deviri species. The Elkeres invited the Deviri to join their nation, and together they finished colonizing the cluster. After this point, the newly formed Pecay-Po Federation of Nalachi went on an expansion spree, colonizing every part of the galaxy they could get their hands on. They never really did much with it, and once other civilizations began appearing they abandoned most of their claims. From this point until the War of Saiheran Succession, the PPFN enacted a policy of extreme isolationism, completely ignoring anything happening outside its borders.
Early Modern Era (15,000-67,433 CE):
The first modern civilization to have a presence in Florathel was not native to Florathel itself. Instead, it was a nation from Via Aylathiiya, Sagittarium. In 23,049 CE, Sagittarium created a military base with numerous troops, supplies, and ships. The military base was more posturing on the part of Sagittarium than a legitimate attempt to colonize Florathel. With a two year round trip between the base and Sagittarium, it served little purpose. It was, however, impressive. Since then, Sagittarium was regarded as a superpower by its peer nations. In 41,057 CE, Sagittarium democratized and set most of its colonies free. The base would go on to become the nation of Thalvett and expand to several thousand stars. The military base was never fully decomissioned; it is small and has only two modern starships.
One of the first of the modern nations to be founded is the Kingdom of Saihera, which was founded from a group of colonies in the Galactic Halo of Florathel in 39,488 CE. This nation was lucky to have a fairly uninteresting history, with few major catastrophes until the War of Saiheran Succession. Next, in 48,237 CE, the Marakat Interstellar Union was founded from the merger of the prefects of Artaclate, Perol, and Vea. Then in 48,903 CE the Economic Federation of Saleas is founded from many smaller states in and around the Parvo-Aa System.
Around this time, the Carlean species was founded, and they rapidly expanded through the mostly sterile regions of the Florathel Core, founding the Cnaran Federation. This nation came across the Frealee System, a system inhabited by the Darvikan species. This species was almost done colonizing their own system, and the Carleans extended an offer of an alliance or union. They accepted, merging the Darvikan Union with the Cnaran Federation, forming the modern Cnara-Frealee Federation in 53,491 CE.
Meanwhile in the outskirts of the Paleas Arm, a collection of four nations were having a bunch of border disputes. These four nations were the Kormin Empire, Union of Narenna, Virozic Republic, and Republic of the Spider Nebula. No two of these nations particularly liked each other, and in 63,745 CE the Kormin Empire launched an attack on the RSN and the UoN. This attack resulted in the destruction of Marnaltharke and severe damage to the Narenna Dyson Swarm, eventually leading to the eruption of the Forever War. This war is ongoing to this day.
About a thousand years after the start of this war, several nations in the inner Florathel Galaxy including the CFF, MIU, EFS, and many others signed the First Treaty of Providence. This treaty set aside the Providence Neutral Zone in the deep core of the galaxy as the "common heritage of all", and ensured that no weapons testing occurred in this historically important region.
War of Saiheran Succession (67,433-84,808 CE):
In 67,433 CE, the king of the Kingdom of Saihera, King Oram, was killed by an unknown assailant. Most historians believe that Oram was killed by his second child, Princess Kalea, or someone hired by her. Normally, Queen Erekan would have succeeded him, but she had died years earlier. Failing this, the oldest child would succeed him, but it is believed that the four children of Erekan and Oram used the fact that they were quadruplets to rationalize the fact that they were ignoring this, and started fighting over who would succeed him.
After Oram's death, his four children immediately started fighting. The physically weakest but most popular of them, Princess Zelera, proposed a public election between the four heirs, but this was rejected by the other three because they knew perfectly well they would lose. The physically strongest, Prince Sais, proposed a fight to the death. This was also rejected for similar reasons. The most intelligent of them, Prince Karnak, proposed a battle of intelligence, which was again rejected. Finally, the most scheming of the four, Princess Kalea suggested that they try to send armies against each other, and whoever controlled the victorious army would win.
This idea was accepted as it seemed to be fair, but Kalea was ahead of the game and already had secret agreements with roughly 1/3 of the divisions of the Saiheran Army as well as the Trezhath and Dominion of Khela. A savvy underling of Prince Karnak (who he was possibly having an affair with) was in the room at the time, and pointed this fact out to the other three heirs. They then hastily arranged alliances with the vast majority of the nations in the galaxy, drawing on their existing disputes to turn them against each other.
At the beginning of the war, all four heirs with the exception of Prince Sais fled Dimostah to avoid being killed. Princess Zelera set up a secret base on the entirely unknown rogue planet of Aiah, where she stayed for the majority of the war. Princess Kalea constructed a mobile station deep in interstellar space. Interestingly, Prince Karnak's base was located directly on the surface of Erae, a major planet of his main ally, the Arnot Republic. This decision would prove to be extremely foolish, and almost resulted in Karnak's death very early in the war. As this was occurring, the various nations began to move their automated fleets towards each other, and the first battles of the war started happening when they met.
As the armies met, small skirmishes broke out between the borders of the various nations participating. An important early battle was the Battle of Pagalus, a minor system on the border between the Marakat Interstellar Union and the Free Nation of Garrea. It wasn't very well populated, but was within a disputed region between the two nations. As they were still ostensibly following the rules of war, they avoided civilian casualties, with most of the fighting occurring within the unpopulated Oort cloud of the system. This battle allowed the FNG to take control of the disputed territory surrounding the system.
There were similar battles across the galaxy, causing small border changes. As these occurred far from populated areas, most citizens had little to no changes to their daily lives. People in the border regions were protesting the war, but they were sadly ignored.
One of the most climactic battles of this part of the war was the Battle of Erae. This battle took place after the Trezhath and Dominion of Khela pushed far into the relatively unpopulated coreward region of the Arnot Republic, reaching the planet Erae. Erae was the site of Prince Karnak's base, and they jumped on the opportunity to attack it.
At first, the battle seemed to be going well for the attacking nations, and the front lines almost entered the hill sphere of Erae itself. A long-range missile impacted the site of Prince Karnak's base on the surface of the planet, leaving a large crater, but the occupants had fled to an outer dwarf planet. However, reinforcements from Morlac had finally arrived, and managed to rebuff the enemy forces.
After the battle, Prince Karnak later fled the system and constructed a base on an interstellar asteroid, far from any population centers.
After this early phase of the war, almost completely filled with minor battles that didn't really do much, the warring nations stopped even trying to follow the Rules of War. This phase began after many of the generals on all sides decided that their current strategy, while relatively popular, wasn't getting anywhere. It was a period in the war in which most nations started to stop distinguishing between military and civilian targets. This period saw the usage of weapons never before used in conflicts in an attempt to make the enemy surrender.
One of the most horrific weapons to be used involves the manufacture and firing of a unique form of artificial matter, known as Marceum, that accelerates proton decay in any structure that it impacts, causing a chain reaction and erasing the structure from the universe, killing everyone on the surface in less than an hour. All who ordered its use on civilian targets were convicted in the Great Tribunal after the war and remain imprisoned to this day.
The material was extremely dense and difficult to make, and was very unstable. It only works with a certain critical mass, and the material has a half-life of roughly ten minutes. Thus, this weapon would need to be fired from within about 200 kilometers of the planetary surface, making for many climactic battles.
Many battles in this part of the war were truly horrifying, and Princess Kalea went so overboard on punishing Prince Karnak's alliance that she used Marceum to destroy every major planet in the Arnot Republic, killing 98% of its population.
After the complete destruction of the Arnot Republic, the stakes were higher. Despite the utter loss of one side of the war, everyone else saw the extreme danger they were in. Kalea was seen as the most ruthless of the three remaining combatants, and Sais and Zelera decided to team up against her.
This stage of the war caused so much death that it was referred to as Total War, a war which takes all the resources of the nations which are waging it. At this point, quadrillions of individuals were being conscripted into the war, to remotely pilot the huge numbers of ships taking part in it. There were many horrifying battles, including the Battle of Vea and the Battle of Virelask.
After the destruction of the Arnot Republic, Prince Sais and Princess Zelera decided to team up against Kalea, and Zelera returned to Dimostah for the first time in millennia. The two heirs and their generals put their heads together and made a plan to destroy all of Kalea's Marceum factories ensuring that the horrors of Morlac could never happen again.
At the time, essentially all of Kalea's Marceum-factory ships were situated over the planet Kaledar, a very stupid idea that quite possibly led to Kalea's downfall. As the fastest and most permanent way to destroy anything was to throw it into a black hole, this operation called for either stealing all of it and throwing it into the nearest stellar mass black hole, or creating a black hole right there. They chose the latter option.
Despite the name, it was less of a battle and more of a hit-and-run operation. Tiny space probes with high-tech scanning equipment flew to the system and found the precise position of the targets. Then, a ship specially designed around the black hole generator managed to jump back into the universe less than a kilometer away from the manufacturing station.
As the craft passed close to the station, he dropped the generator payload directly onto the station, where it created a black hole of approximately 1 planetary mass, destroying the station instantly. Although the pilot was lost, this was a crippling blow to Princess Kalea, and the tide of the war was turned. The only question now was why did they call this a battle?
Despite the destruction of Kalea's stores of strange matter, she was still quite formidable. Believing that Princess Zelera was the weakest of her two remaining opponents, and not knowing where her hideout was, she attacked the planet of Vea. Vea was the least-well-defended major planet of Zelera's most powerful ally, the Marakat Interstellar Union. Due to the lack of strange matter, Kalea's generals had a difficult time planning an assault on the planet, and elected to simply bombard the whole place. She managed to do this only after multiple attacks on the hastily placed shield generators, giving time to evacuate the planet. As such, when the bombardment finally took place, it was not as much of a loss as it could have been.
The Battle of Virelask is widely known as one of the most horrible battles in this era of the war. After the Marakat and FTIC fleet traveled across the territory of the Mankalan Coalition completely unnoticed, as that nation was ignoring everything at the time, they arrived at the borders of the EFS. After several bloody battles, they won large swathes of territory, taken control of Elidoro, and were now at the gates of the capital.
At this point, the government at Saleas called across the nation for ships to defend them and amassed their military at the edge of the Limit Cloud. The battle began in the darkness of interstellar space as the vanguards met.
The defending fleet let themselves be pushed back all the way to the orbit of Vekro-Aa, where the rest of the fleet was waiting. Then, the vise closed, and the attacking vanguard was surrounded. They were utterly destroyed, leaving endless shrapnel for the scavengers to pick through. However, that was only the vanguard.
Seeing the disastrous defeat of their vanguard, the Frolira-Tuar/Marakat Alliance quickly sent in their entire fleet. This part of the battle was much more even, as the casualty list was roughly balanced. However, soon the fleet was pushed into the Parvo-Aa planetary system, specifically approaching the planet Virelask. From here, a huge number of civilian craft hastily modified with extra guns suddenly hit the attacking fleet from behind, causing severe damage to the flagship and rendering it incapable of acceleration, sending it spiraling towards the clouds of Virelask.
The success of this "People's Fleet" did not last, however, as they were soon dashed to pieces by the much more advanced attacking ships. At this point, the People's Fleet was redirected to a different target: Saleas itself.
As the Fleet of the EFS was being utterly decimated by the attackers, huge numbers of civilians landed on the surface of Saleas and begun the evacuation. At this point, ships from across the entire nation arrived in the system. Some of them attacked the attacking fleet, which did almost nothing except attract fire away from the military ships, but most begun flying around the system and evacuating as many people as possible before the defenders were destroyed.
This massively succeeded, particularly as the entire central government was quickly evacuated on the space yacht of one Seras Keneri through a nearby wormhole to the EFS' colonies in Iriat Cloud. Many civilians followed him to this remote outpost.
However, the defending fleet finally retreated through the wormhole with less than a tenth of its former size. After this, the attackers were incredibly brutal. They orbitally bombarded the ice of Saleas, killing instantly any who were not evacuated. Also, huge numbers of habitation stations and other megastructures were destroyed, leaving the entire system strewn with rubble. This came to be known as the Sack of Saleas.
After this battle, the attacking forces were met with virutally no organized resistance as they conquered the entire nation until reaching Azavante. At Azavante, a huge number of civilian ships rose from the planet's surface to defend against the fleet, but they were all instantly destroyed and the surface of Azavante was turned to glass. However, they did not know about the wormhole to the Iriat Cloud, as it was moved before the fleet entered the system. Just before they reached its new position, it was forcibly destabilized, releasing enough energy to blast the attacking fleet to atoms. However, the military was trapped on the other end of the galaxy, and could do little to take advantage of this.
The Treana War was one of the most vicious periods of the War of Saiheran Succession, although historians agree that its relation to the wider war was at best tangential. The Treana War began as a localized civil war as various parties were tired of compromising with who they believed to be subintelligent animals and decided to simply kill the other side. These parties were the Federalist Party, the Marwanist People's Front, and the Socialist Party, which was not socialist. Each political party attracted members of the military that agreed with them to sign onto their side of the growing civil war, and it ballooned from there.
The first battle took place at Falkira, a planetless protostar positioned near the Treana System. This battle was absolutely ruthless, as each side fully believed that the other sides were composed of people who were irredeemably evil and who deserved to be destroyed. The Battle of Falkira essentially ended in a draw, as the more level-headed captains of the last ships of each of the three sides simply left after a secret agreement not to fire on each other as they did so.
After the carnage of Falkira, many supporters of each side of the war abruptly switched to protesting against the war as a whole. To garner monetary support for their cause, each of the warring parties decided to "support" one of the three heirs to the Saiheran throne, mostly in an attempt to get the three heirs to give them money. This partly succeeded, as Zelera, Sais, and Kalea secretly funneled resources to the headquarters of the various warring forces.
As each side had a steady influx of fesources, they were able to keep pushing out propaganda framing their opponents as evil beings threatening the Areial Union who must be destroyed. Ironically, because of their push to brutally murder everyone who supported the other two sides, all three of them put the Areial Union under the most threat it had ever been under. The Marwanist People's Front instituted an incredibly unpopular policy that essentially reduced people who weren't believers in Marwanism to second-class citizens, with few rights under their law. Since Marwanist adherents were only 34% of the population of the territories they controlled, this incensed everyone else beyond measure.
After this point, the AU was split into three separate territories who's governments hated each other but who's population kept trying to cross the border. Border skirmishes went on for the remainder of the war, but no battles as horrific as Falkira happened again. Eventually, a civilian raid on the headquarters of the Marwanist People's Front actually managed to depose it, and the other two parties met the same fate. The casualty list was incredibly high, and a great memorial was erected on almost every planet listing the names of those who fought and died to rid the Union of its corrupt rulers.
After all three of the parties were defeated, the AU publicly withdrew support for any of the three heirs, swearing neutrality in the massive war. It had glimpsed the carnage it would bring, and did not want it. Thus ended the Treana War. Although it only lasted 11 years, it would leave an imprint on the collective memory of the Areial populace forevermore. The defeat of the three parties would later inspire the Amgorac Dynasty to secede from what they saw as a corrupt government.
The Modern Day (84,808 CE-Present):
Galactic Geography
The exact galactic geography of Florathel has been hotly debated, as it was often decided rather arbitrarily by whatever nation was most powerful at the time. As a result, what defines a distinct region of Florathel has changed time and time again, going from being based on distance from the core, to being based on spiral arms, to being based on how far above or below the disk you are.
Currently, Florathel is composed of seven main regions as set by a committee of the United Nations of the Florathel Galaxy, each with its own interesting set of cultures and species.
- Florathel Core
- Frealee Arm
- Elerad Arm
- Charity Spur
- Paleas Arm
- Akris Arm
- Galactic Halo
There are also three specially defined political regions apart from these:
- Lareas
- Arech
- Nomalsa

Florathel Core

The Providence Cluster and Nebula
The Florathel Core is the innermost region of Florathel. Its borders span from The Heart of Providence to the edges of the galactic bulge. Because of this, this region is the most densely packed of any galactic region in this galaxy, with the average distance between non-gravitationally bound stars only reaching a third of a light-year.
The layout of the Florathel Core consists of an extremely dense cluster roughly five light-years across with over a thousand stars, many of them very massive and bright, surrounding The Heart of Providence. This cluster is nested within a less dense, but still quite dense cluster known as the Providence Cluster, composed of many old stars and old planets and is often called the Deep Core. This cluster does not have very many civilizations, and has a good deal of rogue planets with the many close encounters between stars over its long history. Across the bulge, many smaller clusters have formed, including the Cnara Cluster, the home of the planet Carlea and the Cnara-Frealee Federation.
During the Providence Union Era, most of the capital planets of the Providence Union were very densely populated and situated in the Florathel Core, meaning that the majority of the resources produced by the galaxy were funneled into the core, leaving the majority of the galaxy, bar special exceptions, stricken with poverty, a fact which would eventually lead to their downfall. Though this practice was hated by even many in the core itself, it was maintained by the ruling elite of Revarea and other planets to their destruction roughly one and a half billion years ago.
The Heart of Providence fully formed around 13,000,000,000 BCE. After this, the first stars of the galaxy would begin to form throughout the remainder of the 12,000,000,000 BCEs. In the billions of years that followed, countless other stars, planets, and lifeforms would continue to come into being, forming many civilizations which have risen and fell over the galaxy's long history.
Countless species and civilizations have arisen in the Florathel Core, most notably the Providence Union, which formed at the end of the Peony Wars and would go on to rule the entirety of the galaxy and portions of others for a time.
Frealee Arm

The reaches of the Frealee Arm
The Frealee Arm is the "first" arm and second officially recognized region of Florathel, and is home to such notable planets as Darvikus, Saleas, and Astra. Its borders are defined as the spiral arm containing the Frealee System, which contains a large amount of gas, dust and star forming regions.
Its layout is fairly compact when compared to the larger regions of the galaxy, with the average distance between stars spanning around one and a half light-years, causing the region to be inhabited by numerous clusters of gravitationally bound stars. Various civilizations have been founded within the borders of the Frealee Arm, with the most notable being the Economic Federation of Saleas, one of the founding members of the United Nations of the Florathel Galaxy.
The Frealee Arm is divided into the Inner, Mid, and Outer Frealee Arm.
Elerad Arm

The Elerad Arm, with the LBV Inielus in the foreground.
The Elerad Arm is the second arm of Florathel and second densest region of the galaxy. It is home to many nations, including the Marakat Interstellar Union, Trezhath, and more. The Outer Elerad Arm is notably depopulated due to the Sagittarium Invasions in the 20000s CE, and some of the other nations of the UNFG are trying to recolonize the vast empty areas in the Elerad Arm.
Today, some of the galactic disk globular clusters are controlled by Thalvett, a nation formed by the robots sagittarium left behind, to this day, and they have become significantly more peaceful, mostly just staying in their respective clusters.
The Elerad Arm is notably home to The Grey Star, an anomalous region of space roughly the size of a K-type star under heavy study by the UNFG, located in the territory of the Trezhath.
The Elerad Arm is split into the Inner, Mid, and Outer Elerad Arms. The Outer Elerad Arm is, as far as anyone can tell, utterly lifeless, with no native civilizations.
Yaztas
The Yaztas Region of the Elerad Arm is a large region containing the territory most influenced by the Selagan and Tareza species. It contains the Arnot Exclusion Zone, the Dominion of Khela, the Theocracy of Yaztas, Trezhath, and a strip of the MIU.
Charity Spur
Connecting the Paleas and Elerad Arms is a structure known as the Charity Spur. Originally, it was thought of as a galactic arm of its own right, but the mapping commission chose to downgrade its status to that of a galactic spur. Despite this status, it is quite long, and contains the nations of the Encalet Confederacy as well as the Aldar Region of the FNG.
Lareas
Lareas is a intermediate-sized, very remote region of space which can be found near the edge of the Florathel Galaxy, in the Outer Elerad Arm. Lareas was at one point ruled by the esoteric Karvel Civilization, an ancient civilization whose artifacts helped define the history of the region. It is now ruled by hundreds of squabbling feudal clans of varying sizes, following the collapse of the central government of the Karvel Civilization, the loss of most records, and the descent into a technological dark age unparalleled across the galaxy.
Today, the even the largest of the clans controls little more than five percent of the region and the smallest can be a single system or even less. These clans are linked by a complex web of alliances and rivalries, and it is very difficult for outsiders to map or even reach it. At least partially due to the conquests of the Karvel Civilization, the region is very sterile, with only four intelligent species found across the region, all of which are genetically related in some way. No species have truly emigrated to the region either.
Paleas Arm
The Paleas Arm is very distant arm of Florathel, separating from the Elerad Arm, on the opposite side of Florathel relative to the main territory of the United Nations of the Florathel Galaxy. It is controlled by a diverse set of nations, and because of its size is very rarely treated as a whole.
The Paleas Arm is controlled by a great many nations, including the Queendom of Tancred, Cluelflago Entente, Federation of Kaurim, Oralat Virtual Utopia, as well as the four warring nations of Arech. The Paleas Arm is split into four regions: The Inner, Mid, and Outer Paleas Arms, and the Paleas Flocculent Cloud. The Flocculent cloud is almost entirely unexplored and is not known to host any civilizations.
Arech
Arech is a larger region containing the majority of the Outer Paleas Arm and is defined by the extent of control of the four nations currently participating in the Forever War. It is marked by the high concentration of star-forming regions here, including the Spider Nebula and Virenna Nebular Complex. The entire region has been utterly devastated by war.
Akris Arm
The Akris Arm is the most distant and unexplored arm of Florathel, breaking off from the Elerad Arm and extending to the furthest reaches of the halo. The Akris Arm is not very well-explored, with no known settlements in the region except the former location of Meral. The Akris Arm is the source of many strange broadcasts, and the UNFG is looking into this.
The Akris Arm is notably home to Iriat Cloud, a nebula uniquely located outside the disk proper, the only large nebula in the galaxy like this. The Iriat Cloud is home to the Oralat Virtual Utopia, a reclusive civilization living on matrioshka brains around medium-sized stars hidden in the nebula. Despite its reclusiveness, the OVU is the only contacted nation native to the region.
Nomalsa
Nomalsa is a large region contained almost entirely within the Akris Arm. It is the origin of hundreds of powerful transmissions which can only be explained by the presence of an immensely powerful civilization, but none has been found. Adding to the mystery, only three ships have returned from surveys of the region out of thousands that have been sent over the years.
Galactic Halo

A star floating lonely in the reaches of the deep Galactic Halo.
The Galactic Halo is the sparsest region of Florathel. It is not home to many nations, being controlled almost solely by the Kingdom of Saihera and the Pecay-Po Federation of Nalachi. It is the largest region of the galaxy in terms of volume, but its stars are very spread apart with average distances between stars being upwards of ten light-years. Because of this sparseness, this region is difficult to govern, and the two nations here have developed their own strategies for governing this region.
The Kingdom of Saihera is a very decentralized nation, with the King or Queen having very little power over the outer regions, while the PPFN remains holed up inside its dense globular cluster. It is unknown if these solutions will continue to work.
The Galactic Halo contains an as-yet unexplained intergalactic overdensity of stars known as the Yutze Overdensity. This overdensity is not controlled by any nation, native or immigrated. Some consider the Yutze Overdensity a galaxy, but the astronomical community mostly agrees that it is not.
Satellite Galaxies
What is or is not a satellite galaxy is up for debate. The boundary between a satellite galaxy and an intergalactic overdensity or globular cluster is sometimes unclear. However, there are currently 7 officially recognized satellite galaxies surrounding Florathel, at various distances. The ones that have anything at all in them are detailed below.
Nyrin

The Nyrin is a small, low metallicity spiral galaxy, and is the smallest spiral galaxy in the universe. Being the closest satellite of Florathel, the Nyrin has recently been under a lot of tidal forces, which has deformed it to the point that one of its two distinct arms has been nearly erased into the galactic core. As a result, star formation is rampant throughout the galaxy.
Being a relatively low metallicity galaxy has kept Nyrin from developing many civilizations in the past, and any civilizations that arose would be able to take control of the entire galaxy without many obstacles. However, a recent surge of star formation (not enough to quickly exhaust the galaxy's gas supply though) has seeded the galaxy with many heavy elements, which has allowed a lot of lifeforms to develop.

Myrmidan from outside
Myrmidan
Myrmidan is the second closest of the four major Florathel Galaxy Satellites. Containing approximately 2.9 billion stars, Myrmidan contains very few contacted species. It orbits at a relatively close proximity to Florathel, at about 1.1 million light years from the centre, and is in a polar orbit around it. Its orbit is slowly degrading, and it will likely soon collide with the galaxy, triggering a wave of star formation. The galaxy is also a Seyfert galaxy, and its core is reminiscent of that of a quasar, whose jets are clearly visible from outside.
Currently, Myrmidan is controlled fully (except for a few footholds at the edges) by the reclusive Somnar Hive, a hive-mind empire which the many nations are fighting against to buy time for the last free inhabitants of the galaxy to escape the galaxy.
Lowiras

Lowiras. Several massive stars are visible carving out cavities in the bluish gas.
Lowiras is a satellite of Florathel, and is incredibly tiny, with only 3 million stars. It is controlled by the State of Celeas, which also controls a small portion of Florathel's halo. First discovered from outside itself by renowned Salakela astronomer Deri Lowiras, this galaxy is composed of massive amounts of dust, originally thought impossible for such a small galaxy. In fact, a full 1/10 of its mass is in the form if interstellar dust. This vastly decreases its luminosity, which made its discovery take a lot longer than other galaxies of its size.
These dust lanes are interspersed with vast tracts of empty space, centered on bright stars such as the wolf-rayet Elorar. These pockets are where most surveyed systems are found, with almost nothing known about the space hidden in the depths of the dust lanes.
Morid

Morid. It's less of a galaxy and more of a loose conglomeration of dim, dying stars and neutral, cold gas.
Morid is a small, dim blob of a galaxy in the outer reaches of the Florathel Subgroup. It seems to have no intelligent species, and is littered with massive amounts of ruins, likely from an extinct civilization. Morid consists almost entirely of old, metal-poor stars, and is completely devoid of gas. It is located approximately 3 million light years from Florathel.
It is hypothesized that this extreme lack of gas, unparalleled in anything that isn't a globular cluster, was caused by a massive starburst formation where thousands of very high-mass stars formed at almost exactly the same time, causing the civilization living there at the time, Moridian High Command, to be rapidly wiped out. The extreme amount of radiation coming from the short-lived stars also sterilized any and all potentially life-giving planets as the lack of gas precluded the formation of any new stars.
Degelio Galaxy
Pathopsila

The twin galaxies of Pathos and Apsila. The vast array of starburst nebulae on the border between the two is clearly visible.
Pathopsila is a pair of interacting irregular galaxies orbiting the small Degelio Galaxy, itself a satellite of Florathe. They are home to many civilizations and species. The collision between them has led to beautiful but violent star formation along the border between the galaxies, although the galaxies themselves have remained mostly clear of this.
Pathopsila is one of the smallest galaxies in the Local Universe. However, its four nations, the Federal Republic of Chimerta, the Kingdom of Magesiv, the Salvaterian Union State, and the Lypan Technocracy have brought it outsized fame.
Callurim Galaxy
Konata Galaxy

The Konata Galaxy from as close as it is safe to get.
The Konata Galaxy is among the most distant direct satellites of Florathel and by far the most mysterious. Konata is tiny, low-metallicity, and far from anything of interest. One would think that it is also thoroughly uninteresting, but that would be better than its current state. The Konata Galaxy is the most hostile galaxy in the universe. All the galaxy is filled with dangerous space-time abberations and populated by incomprehensible eldrich beings, making it entirely untraversable.
The galaxy was not always like this. It was as thoroughly uninteresting as it looked for billions of years. However, the Marakat Interstellar Union claimed the galaxy as a secret military site to test technologies to be used in the ongoing War of Saiheran Succession. They tested many secret weapons there, but before any of them came to fruition, the final experiment conducted there released the abominations from their cages and triggered the creation of vast amounts of bizarre spacetime abberations. The last of the personnel retreated to a small star near the edge of the galaxy facing the eternal void and surrounded it in impenetrable defenses, stopping the horrors of the galaxy from getting in. They are trapped there to this day.
Nellai

The golden jewel of Nellai.
Nellai is a galaxy located in the Degelio subgroup, in the distant reaches of the Florathel Cluster. It's not really clear what kind of galaxy this one is, but what is certain is that it's evolving between two types. The galaxy is considered a transition galaxy, the only known example in the local cosmos. It is evolving from an irregular galaxy to an elliptical galaxy, which is marked by the depletion of the last gas and dust reserves in the galaxy to form the last generation of massive stars the galaxy will likely see, which are forming at this present moment.
The galaxy is home to several nations, most of which are dying due to the scarcity of important resources and the relatively low metallicity, as well as conflicts within the galaxy. Therefore it can be said that the galaxy is dying, both in its starforming capability and life.

Notable Globular Clusters
Nalachi Cluster
🠊 Main article: Nalachi Cluster

The Nalachi Cluster is a major cluster above the galactic disk of Florathel. It is controlled almost entirely by the Pecay-Po Federation of Nalachi, which also controls the sparsely populated galactic halo surrounding it.
Nalachi is an unusually large globular cluster, at 250 light-years in diameter. It is relatively densely packed, making it the largest and brightest globular cluster in Florathel's neighborhood. Nalachi's center is occupied by a large black hole unimaginatively known as the Heart of Darkness. The Nalachi Cluster, other than this, contains many ancient artifacts from the ancient Pecay-Po Federation of Nalachi, which is a lot older than it looks.
Exurian Cluster
🠊 Main article: Exurian Cluster

The Exurian Cluster is the largest globular cluster of the Myrmidan. It is fully controlled by the Exurian Union, an associate nation of the United Nations of the Florathel Galaxy, which has sent the vast majority of its military to help in the Ardaya Conflicts.
Exurian is a relatively large globular cluster, that is unusually dense in its inner parts. Because of this, most everyone outside it who discovered it assumed that it was much smaller than it actually is, because of this extreme density gradient. However, the Exurian Union is currently constructing a relatively small Birch Planet out of the inner stars of the cluster, to concentrate its population. The outer stars are being left alone, to serve as a destination for Project Alazar.

Ecology
Natural Flora and Fauna
Florathel itself does not really have that much in the way of natural spaceborne ecology. However, some of its satellites are absolutely chock-full of it. For example, in the minor satellites of Treita II and III the spaceborne ecosystem is in fact the only example of life in the entire region, and they've even set up a small civilization. This hasn't reached advanced technology yet, and as such remains uncontacted.
There are some regions of Florathel which have large-scale interstellar ecosystems, but these regions are invariably remote and not well-studied. On the smaller scale, there are plenty of planets which have, for example, void ecologies in their ring systems.
Abiotic Ecosystem
Many of the civilizations in the history of Florathel have sent out various self-replicating probes in an attempt to colonize. Many of these have evolved over the years into inorganic lifeforms. Some of them have evolved from probes so far back in time that their origins are untraceable, and the oldest lines are believed to be as old as the Lareas Alliance itself.
Probes launched billions of years ago still persist to this day and even the most robust protections against "mutation" in von Neumann probes usually breaks down over billions of years. As such, the galaxy is filled with tens of billions of species each originating from one model of probe.
Most modern von Neumann probes, unspecialized for competition, end up choked out by the these species. Over billions of years, their endless competition with each other had them evolve to be perfectly suited to space-based combat. Most modern Florathelian military spacecraft are based off of the body plans of these species because of this.
Nebulae
Florathel has many large nebulae, which have played important roles in its long history. The most important of them are detailed here.
The Spider Nebula is a very large star-forming region in the Florathel Galaxy, most likely the largest in the local universe. The nebula contains many large clusters of high-mass stars, including the most massive star known to the Florathel Subcluster Nations, Alnert A.
The Spider Nebula is the center of the Republic of the Spider Nebula, a large nation based around the Archas System, which is currently at war with the Kormin Empire and Union of Narenna. As such, the nebula is utterly ravaged by war, with a vastly depleted population and ruined megastructures everywhere. A failed peace talk also took place in the nebula between the four warring nations of the region in 97443 CE, until it devolved into a brawl and collapsed.
Being so gigantic, the Spider Nebula contains many smaller nebulae, including the Spyhole Nebula, the Mountains of Creation, and others. There are also many, many tiny dust clouds surrounding newly formed stars, known as proplyds. These hide these stars from view, and the diffuse heat spread within them means that it is easy to hide even a large base within one, at least before they dissipate. This means that there are hundreds of thousands of population centers hidden away from the war, each one migrating to a new proplyd every so often.
The Treana Nebula is the second largest star-forming region in Florathel. It contains many clusters of very high-mass stars within its red clouds, including the most massive star system within the galaxy, the Treana System.
The Treana Nebula is the heart of the Areial Union, a large, corrupt nation with its capital at Eiar. Today, many parts of the nation are growing restive and wishing for independence, inspired by the successful independence movement of the Amgorac Dynasty. This is driven by the Union's huge focus on developing its core regions, yet massively taxing the remote territories. Because of this, the central regions of the Treana Nebula are filled with large megastructures built around the massive stars of the Nebula.
Like most star-forming nebulae, the Treana Nebula contains several smaller nebulae within it. Again like most star-forming nebulae, there are also a huge number of tiny dust clouds surrounding newly formed stars, known as proplyds. These hide these stars from view, and the diffuse heat spread within them means that it is easy to hide even a large base within one, at least before they dissipate. Because of this, the Areial government outlawed colonies within the proplyds due to their potential of hiding, although it is believed that there are still many of these colonies.
The Darakao Nebula is the third largest nebulous structure within Florathel, and is located far from colonized space. As of the present day, the only large nation with any form of power within the Nebula is the New Apati Union, which owns a small assemblage of systems near its edge.
The Darakao Nebula is very dense with stars, gas and dust in many places, and has some of the most massive stars in the galaxy. The nebula is filled with tiny nations that are inordinately powerful for their size due to the extreme luminosity of some of the stars that they control.
As of now, the Nebula seems to be slowly dissipating, although it is lasting longer than scientific models say it should. Why this is the case is a mystery, but it is theorized to be because of lingering radiation.
Notable Anomalies
Florathel, at least in part due to its extreme distance from other galaxies, is home to many phenomena not found elsewhere.
Wormholes
Florathel has a very high concentration of wormholes that are presumed to be natural, some of which have endpoints outside the galaxy. Notable ones include the Chara-Saihera Path, which travels between the Saihera System and the planet Chara in the Cosmoria Galaxy, and the Orachis-Kenna Path, traveling between the red supergiant Orachis in the Ejeunor and the Kenna System.
Hypotheses abound as to why Florathel has so many, ranging from "something to do with the Lareas Alliance" to "it just does", but none of these hypotheses actually have proof behind them. As such, it remains a mystery.

The Faresae
The Faresae are a group of anomalous star types restricted to Florathel. This is their only commonality, and their properties range wildly.
Aroteon Stars are an anomalous star type found almost exclusively in Florathel, with only five known exceptions. They are extremely bizarre stars with wildly varying temperatures and chemical compositions in various portions of the star, creating their distinctive rainbow appearance, which is at odds with all non-anomalous stars. Aroteon Stars are the most common subset of the Faresae, a group of anomalous star types which are only found in Florathel. Aroteon Stars are particularly common, making up ~0.04% of the total stellar population in both galaxies, much higher than any other anomalous star type. However, this is an average, and some regions of space have a much higher concentration of them, such as Nellai and some star-forming regions.
Aroteon Stars also have significantly varying characteristics, with some, especially the population in Nellai, being much brighter than others. The dimmest known, Shavraltus, is located in the Elerad Arm and has a luminosity of only 0.000001 standard solar luminosities. In this, Aroteon Stars have much more varying characteristics then normal stars. It is unknown what produces these bizarre colorings of their surface, and many of them have been set aside for research. For unknown reasons, Aroteon Stars also have much lower planet levels than the background stellar population, with the average number of planets being significantly less than 1. A possible explanation for this is that the measured temperature of these stars are much higher than normal stars of their mass, which drives away planetary disks. However, no one's entirely sure if Aroteon Stars ever have disks in the first place. |
Aroteon Stars form in almost exactly the same manner as normal stars. The only difference is they have a high concentration of various isotopes of Chromastrodium, an extremely high-mass element which is very good at refracting light into very specific wavelengths, which differ for each isotope. Because of this, their evolution is also very similar. Chromastrodium atoms of the same isotope notably concentrate together, causing the variously colored patches on the surface of the star.
However, over billions of years, these "patches" spread out to cover the whole star, replacing patches with layers, and creating what is known as a Shifting Dwarf. The Chromastrodium isotope layers of shifting dwarfs slowly switch around, causing the star to change color with each star having a unique color switching cycle. Eventually, the normal fusion processes in the star cease in the same way as normal stars do, depending on mass, and the Aroteon Star dies in the corresponding manner. |
Keligan Stars are among the rarest of all stars in the universe. They have a very distinctive green color, but this is not all. Keligan Stars emit high emounts of a bizarre form of radiation which destabilizes the strong nuclear force when in high enough concentrations, meaning that it is near-impossible to approach. Anything with mass which gets too close will rapidly melt down into quark soup, which means that very little is known about these stars.
There are approximately 500 of them catalogued in Florathel, varying in luminosity but always extremely small. The vast majority of them are similar in size to terrestrial planets. The largest Keligan Star known to the UNFG approximately 50,000 km in radius, meaning that Keligan Stars are much smaller than essentially any other star type. |
Veroa Stars are incredibly strange and rare stars found within Florathel. There are a total of eleven catalogued in the entire galaxy. Veroa Stars appear to be trapped within a time loop, and are invariably stars at the end of their lives. Often, they appear to be going supernova, clouds of gas spreading outwards at a decent fraction of the speed of light, until they suddenly reverse course and coalesce back into the star. These time looped regions surround stars of hugely varying type, including a red supergiant, a binary neutron star, and a white-dwarf-red-giant binary, and others.
Because of their dangerous nature, it is extremely inadvisable to enter the space around a Veroa Star, and if a craft stays inside too long, it is liable to be trapped in the loop. As such, not much is known about Veroa Stars. Some believe that the time loop was placed around the Veroa Stars by an incredibly powerful civilization trying to prevent a supernova from detonating catastrophically, explaining why all Veroa Stars appear on the brink of death. Proponents of this theory can't find any candidates who would be capable of doing this, however. |
Telarro Stars are utterly bizarre. They take the appearance of a concentrated cloud of gas approximately the size of a star, but they have no defined surface. Rather, it seems to rapidly fade to the vacuum of space. Aside from this fact, from afar they appear to be perfectly normal stars.
However, once you get within a certain limit (usually around 500 stellar radii) of a Telarro Star, its gravity appears to massively spike to thousands of times its effect beyond this limit. As such, the region of space within this zone is very diffcult to reach without being sucked into the star itself. Despite this, there are documented planets orbiting within this zone, though they are not inhabited. Telarro Stars are highly variable in luminosity, mass, and most other stellar properties, and are also variable in where the gravitational-increase limit is. In some cases, the ultragravity zone isn't even spherical! |
Unique Anomalies
The Grey Star has an irregular amorphous shape that changes at a comparatively fast rate, causing its brightness to fluctuate with time, hence the name. The Grey Star is not a star or any stellar remnant, despite emitting an amount of light, if only a little, detectable to nearby civilizations. The irregularly fluctuating lightness attracted the attention of various civilizations, which sent missions to the Grey Star to investigate. |
Aeternum is by far the oldest and most temporally anomalous object in the universe. Surrounded by a bubble of severely sped up time, it is approximately 101,500 years old, far older than the universe. Because of the time differential between Aeternum's sphere of influence and the rest of the universe, it is almost completely impossible for a spacecraft to enter it, because the first atom could orbit the object billions of times before the next even entered, resulting in any probes sent towards it to be shredded into fundamental particles. |
The Aeternum Event was the most lethal event to ever occur in the history of the universe. When the technicians at Aeternum tested the Time Bubble machinery, the energy generated by the activation emitted some form of lethal radiation which expanded at the speed of light all across the universe. This radiation instantly killed all it came into contact with and was completely unstoppable. In approximately ten million years it had crossed the universe. After that point, the universe was utterly lifeless. |
Other Information
Civilizations
Florathel contains hundreds of different civilizations, filling every galactic region and satellite galaxy (with the depressing exception of Morid) with life. As of the modern day, the political landscape within the galaxy itself is relatively peaceful, though this is certainly not the case for most of the satellites. The United Nations of the Florathel Galaxy is presently the dominant power in Florathel, as many of its member nations are superpowers in their own right.

Species
The population of Florathel is very large and rapidly growing. As such, there are a large number of species located within the borders of the galaxy. It is said that thousands of sapient species have come to live in the galaxy, creating many nations (see the Civilizations section) and bringing them forth in intergalactic affairs. A list of the most prominent groups of people of Florathel below:
