The Goliam System is a 8 body system orbiting a white main-sequence star. It is affiliated with the Zalanthium Coalition, and is located in the same galaxy. It holds the planet Alis, the birthplace of the species Alisvania. It has 8 planets, and 8 major moons. However, it has hundreds of minor moons orbiting almost all planets in the system.

Astrogeography

The Goliam System is located in the Zalanthium Hub, 9821 LY from the Atès System, also known as the galactic core. It completes an orbit once every hundred-thousand years. It is located just outside of the nebulae Field of Lights.

Structure

Shi'sick

Shi'sick is a small gas giant orbiting deceptively close to Goliam. Due to its sky-blue colour, most think that Shi'sick is a out-system gas giant. In fact, Shi'sick has a average surface temperature of 700 degreed C, which should at least make its nightside glow dull red. For reasons still unknown to us, is does not show.

Shi'sick has a total population of only a couple of million, all living in its one city, names Ikomnum, situated at its north pole. Ikomnum perpetually floats there, drifting around in a small ten-kilometre circle to stay out of the blinding glare of Goliam.

Most of the population of Ikmnum works in the gas-lifting industry, mining gas to be used in fusion reactors or construction. The planet supplies over 70 percent of the entire system's gas consumption.

Uyguk

Uyguk is the sole moon of Shi'sick, orbiting at a medium distance. It is around 400 degrees here, but the surface is not substantially lava. The atmosphere is thin, and mainly consists of industrial pollutants from the factories and mines covering the surface. The entire moon houses around a billion residents, most working in the mining business. Slowly, the moon will be torn apart for resources to construct the Goliam Dyson Swarm, which is slated to begin construction around 100100 CE.

Aablocong

Aablocong has a similar fate to Uyguk; that is, to be torn apart for resources. It has no real value, with little volatiles and an atmosphere made primarily out of hydrogen. It is around 300 hundred degrees C here, and the surface is only partially solid. The population of the planet live around the poles.

Exythan

Exythan is the second most major world of the system, and the first to be colonised and adapted by the Alisvania. It was their beacon, their most revered planet in the system, even if it was only one of 5 to host a liquid on it surface. It is mainly a water world, and has a set of close orbiting rings. It has a low atmospheric pressure, only around a fifth of an atmosphere.

Exythan is the second most populated body in the system, coming after Alis, at 91 billion. Most live in the orbiting stations, but a lot live on the surface of the water world.

The first landing on this planet happened in 1 921 832 BCE, and since then the population has only been growing. The ancient Exythan Wormhole still is situated in low orbit, to enable quick transport between it and Alis. It is predicted that within a hundred thousand years the wormhole will collapse, and disappear.

Gerttulis

Gerttulis is the sole moon of Exythan, and is a terraforming disaster. The moon was once habitable, but since then has decayed into a husk of its former self. It was once populated by about ten billion Alisvania, but immigration pressures moved over 19/20 of the population, leaving only 500 million to dwindle down to the 121 million we see today. The world slowly lost its atmosphere, and temperatures dropped dramatically. Soon, all open air cities and towns will need to have a dome.

Alis

Alis is the capital of the system, as well as the capital of the member-state nation Eswenti, since merged with the Zalanthium Coalition. It is a tropical planet with severe seasons, and is renowned throughout the Zalanthium Galaxy and beyond as a stunningly beautiful world. See, Alis.

Xythana

Xythana is the smaller moon of Alis, but orbits close so both moons look the same from the surface. It has hundreds of settlements on its surface, the largest residing in a dome almost ten kilometres across, as well as extending over a kilometre below. The gravity here is so low here that with a small fire extinguisher, you can get into orbit. This poses many dangers, and the entire moon has a large clean-up operation of low-orbit.

The moon formed with Alis, around two billion years ago.

At the pole, there is a major mining operation, dedicated to excavating strait through the axis of rotation for the moon. It is aimed that it will revolutionise transport on the moon, enabling on to jump down the hole and arrive at the opposite pole around two minutes later.

Silisa

Silisa is the largest moon of Alis, and orbits half a million kilometres away. Due to this, it appears the same size as Xythana from Alis. Along with Xythana, the moon is mainly covered in domes of varying sizes, the largest being around ten kilometres across. The total population of the moon is only a billion, but enough to cause trouble.

At the dawn of Alisvania civilization, as they spread out from Alis, the first and second worlds respectively colonised were Xythana and Silisa. Xythana was small enough to never amount to much, but Silisa was extensively colonised. Eventually, the citizens of the new "People's Republic of the Silisian Cities" declared their independence. The homeland, Alis, which was at the time under the jurisdiction of Eswenti, declared war on the new government, with the aim to conquer.

The war was short lasted. The feeble billion on the moon did not stand up against the thirty billion back home for long. After the war, the moon was assimilated, and Eswenti learned never to allow any of their colonies even semi-autonomy, let alone to govern themselves.

The moon formed along with Alis and Xythana. The current population of the moon is 18 billion.

Schizvisla

Schizvisla is a boring gas giant, with no moons and little mass. It does have a small and boring ring system, but compared to Ritana for example, it is disappointing. Still, some think that this world is worth it as the population is a billion. It was the second world to be visited by the Alisvania, after Exythan and Gerttulis.

Schizvisla formed only a billion years ago, as a unknown act of stellar engineering. The chemical concentrations were analysed, and it was determined that the gas was taken solely from Ri-inal.

Many orbiting habitats orbit the planet, accounting for almost a billion of the population. Hardly any people reside in floating habitats on the planet.

Ritana

Ritana is a contrasting world. The barren desolation of the surface, with the multi-coloured beauty of the rings. It being terraformed, but the project has only just started.

Along with Silisa, Ritana and surrounding moons attempted to declare independence, but Eswenti's spies found out and ended the notion.

Ritana was once a interstellar object, forming about 5 billion years ago. Despite this, the orbit of Ritana is very circular. It had its two moons on its journey, but they suffered dramatic changes when they neared the warming sun.

Ablibcon

Ablibcon is a mining world. It has a northern ice cap made out of solidified carbo dioxide, but no southern cap. Ablibcon was involved in the not-so-great Ritana Rebellion, which never went anywhere. The moon has limited population, most stationed there to study the much-more interesting Rsila. When it journey through the cosmos, the entire moon was frozen. As it neared Goliam, the frozen volatiles erupted, and carried off into space.

Rsila

Rsila has carbon based life, existing at temperatures underneath negative 200. How? It has oceans of liquid oxygen, which it swims through and breaths. The ocean is possible due to the unique conditions on the surface; low atmospheric pressure, low temperatures and stability. No Alisvania live here, due to laws concerning the exotic life on the moon. The oxygen was picked up on its journey through the universe, but it was in solid form. When it neared the sun, volatiles erupted, enabling the liquid to melt. Life has not had much time to evolve, here.

Ri-inal

Ri-inal.jpg

Ri-inal is a small gas giant, but not as small as Schizvisla. In fact, it is thought the a unknown party lifted gas off Ri-inal and constructed Schizvisla.
