Karine b, also nicknamed as Karine Planet, is the only planet orbiting Karine Star.

The surface of the planet was suffering a global scale space-time anomaly when it was discovered in the year 5050 CE, but the source of the anomalies was found and eventually destroyed soon afterwards by an agent Space Hound working for the Deep Nebula Federation.

After the events of the space-time anomalies, it was taken over by the Deep Nebula Federation (now part of the United Federation of Star Systems) as a research base for developing intra-dimensional travel.

Physical properties

It is the only planet orbiting the yellow dwarf Karine Star, 2.05 light years away from the Deep Nebula, within the eponymous sector.

The planet is located around 0.78 AU away from the star, and takes around 258.5 days to fully orbit the star.

A day on Karine Planet is a bit more than half a day, but its rotation axis is tilted over a 100 degrees, causing it to be facing nearly sideways.

It also features a series of three icy rings.

Surface and climate

Overall, the average temperature in the overworld typically ranges from 15°C to -7°C, and it is generally a few degrees warmer in the underground caves and underwater.

Due to its tilted axis, the poles are slightly warmer than the subtropical areas.

The surface of the planet has a plethora of areas with very distinctly differentiated climates, but most of the surface is extremely humid and turbulent. Some areas include Junlaar, Rebian and Vulkor, along with a vast labyrintic network of caves, often nicknamed as the Underground.


Most of Junlaar is a lush rainforest of a mixture of mushrooms that can extend over 300 meters, and trees with cup-shaped leaves to collect the rainfall. Both are usually interconected via mycellium-like tissue as a form of symbiosis between both organisms. The outermost forests are less dense, and fir-like conifers dominate the landscape.

Tropical storms and small hurricanes fall fairly frequently, although it has peak seasons in southernmost areas, where huge storms can easily reach the size of super typhoons. Some of these major tropical storms are the main source of rainfall in the nearby deserts of Rebian.


The Rebian desert is one of the largest arid lands of Karine Planet, although the term of Rebian also encompasses the Reflection Sea and the Dove Sea.

For the most part, Rebian is an arid wasteland with a very dry climate, except for some monsoons that ocasionally come from the outermost parts of Junlaar.


Vulkor is a volcanic wasteland, where a concentration of inactive volcanoes is located. However, many areas near the Underground still have magma. The temperatures surpass the 45°C mark in the deepest areas.


The collective network of caves that span over five kilometers below the surface is called the "Underground". The three main entrances are named after the areas they are closest to: The Junlaar, Rebianese and Vulkorian Underground; containing fauna, flora and even climate similar to these.

The remaining areas, often grouped under the name of Central Underground, where temperatures stay at a mostly stable 27.2°C. Not many specimens of fauna are found in this sector of the underground, except for Cave Lions and other critters that often inhabit the areas closer to the entrances.

An old settlement located deep in the Central Underground, which was then repurposed as a facility for researching inter-dimensional travel.

Space-time anomalies

When it was originally discovered by the Deep Nebula Federation, many space-time anomalies were detected in the surface and extended over 3 kilometers deep into the Underground. They consisted of multitude of small wormholes leading to seemingly parallel universes.

Although the source of the anomalies was never disclosed, the DNF stated that it was destroyed to preserve the stability of the nearby systems.

Some expeditions that happened shortly after these events confirmed traces of a much more unstable form of Strange Matter. Experts theorize that it was brought from a very distant location where space-time was extremely compressed. Unfortunately, there is no data regarding the location of the origin of this matter.
