Karine Star is a yellow dwarf located 2.05 light years away from the Deep Nebula, near the circumscription limits of the Deep Nebula Federation.

The star did not receive a name until the year 5050 CE, when it was selected among multiple other candidate star systems as the possible origin for a space-time anomaly detected by the DNF. It was promptly named after Karine Schmitz, the lead scientist that discovered the lone planet orbiting it, Karine Planet, where it was eventually confirmed that the origin of the space-time anomaly was within the crust of said planet.

Since the space-time anomaly, the DNF (now part of the United Federation of Star Systems) has made this system a research center for intra-dimensional space travel, although with little success.
