Kashomia Station, located in the Lewis Galaxy, is one of the most important stations in the Outer Nephos Arm, in the Tirso Quadrant of the Galaxy. It currently belongs to the United Alliance, although its claim is disputed by the Republic of Sion. It orbits the Gas giant known as Kashomia in the Iyo System.

The Station has a very large underground economy and a huge black market. Many dissidents have made the station its refuge. The Farshlag Syndicate has a strong presence in the area.

Most notably, its wealth has been driven thanks to being in the proximity of three powerful nations (the Union, the Republic of Sion and obviously the United Alliance, where it is located). Smuggling and illegal activities have been going on since the time of the foundation when it was a distant colony. Nowadays its wealth has attracted the eye of authorities who are working hard to make Kashomia ridden from its criminality fame.

The Station, its not only a place for illegal activity, as much of its legal economy is driven by finance, mining, ship repairing, tourism and entertainment (such as gambling) and refilling ships with energy and food are some of the most common activities in the station.

It remains nonetheless a very bold place to make business and become wealthy very fast. This land of opportunity still attracts many settlers from all over Herschel Space and beyond. Gambling is an important activity here, with casinos and betting centers all over the place. Also prostitution is a very important business.

Many Transportation ships make a scale here before leaving the Galaxy for other far away points through the Wormhole nearby.

History

The Station was colonized in 52 044 CE and soon, by 52 800 CE, its population had greatly exploded. Soon, the inner city was expanded and its economical activity did so as well. It started as a mining colony that served as refilling center for ships and due to its isolation, it also became a gambling center. With the creation of the Wormhole nearby, the economy of the region became more important and diversified, so Banking and Finance also grew exponentially.

When the Republic of Sion was created in 55 006 CE, fierce disputes over the system existed with the United Alliance. The territory is still strongly claimed by the Republic of Sion. During the split of the Republic of Sion from United Alliance territory, Sionese forces had a strong influence in the city with large sionese populations there. Still they were insufficient to claim the whole system or even fight for it.

This status of non-belonging, led the station unto a vacuum of legal power, which favoured mafia and illegal activities to become stronger in the region. Some in Kashomia do not recognized the United Alliance authority. A considerable amount of the station actually only follows the Republic of Sion's authority and legislation. But many simply don't abide by any rule, just the one dictated by the Station itself.

Population

Its a trading center, with a total population of 1 Billion people. The station was populated by early miner colonist, who wanted to harvest the gases and resources of Kashomia. However, the station soon served as a wealthy trade center in the Outer territories.

Among Humans, its inhabitants are mostly from the U.A (38%), the Republic of Sion (26%), the Union (18%) the Intergalactic Federation (10%) the Empire of Mankind (6%) and from other human nations (2%). From this late 2% we can see humans coming from the UFSS, the Ambrosia Alliance, the CUEN or the Aylothn Galaxy.

The Population is 64% human but many Alien species can be found living in the station making all together 46%. Around 100 different alien species live in Kashomia (most from Herschel Space but also from the Laniakea Supercluster and beyond). Most notably there is a strong presence of Aldorians 3%, Krizik 3%, Korkas 0,5%, Arati 4%, Murban 1%, Noraki 1%, Yakons 1,5%, Koors 0,5%, Arong 0,5%, Yoldar 0,5%, Delvans 1%, etc... Most species however must be Oxygen breathing as the Station was built up for such purpose. Species breathing other gases must wear masks or other breathing disposals.
