Nova Rexina is a desertic terra planet in the Via Sagittaria Galaxy, located in the Txon System. They share it with the planet Vihrie, inhabited by the less advanced Xcathli. The world is on the frindges of Human territory, quite isolated from other major routes and areas.
Its location near the Pacuan system led to it being explored by human vessels within the first month of human arrival in the system on 11490. The first explorers landed to start mining operations. They were privately sponsored. Many of the Humans that came here were people of the frontier, people leaving a hard life in the vast emptyness of space, traveling most of the time through uncharted territories.
Because of its environment, humans had to adapt quickly. And although conditions were suited for life, not so much for humans, and its inhabitants luckly adapted by building domes and large life-supporting structures. Soon enough some new colonial vessels arrived and landed in the planet.
As of now, Nova Rexina holds well over two thirds of the total human population in the Txon system. Some minor outpost exists in the system, most notably in moons and gas giants. Most of the population is currently living in underground habitats and biodomes. Some terraforming equipment have been slowly transferred to try and transform its ecosystem. Several ecologist groups have oppose the plan, as it will harm the local life of Nova Rexina.
Several facilities on the planet, such as a commodity market and a large scale interstelar spaceport, common in other human-controlled locations, are more rare here, due to the isolation of the planet from the core. However, a small orbital spaceport exist to travel to nearby systems or within the Txon system.
A university was opened in one of the biodomes, providing higher education for the Nova Rexinans who used automated systems for lower studies.
The total population of the planet is around 1 278 000 inhabitants.
Nova Rexina is geologically young, and hence still possess some volcanic and tectonic activity. However, these activities have not been a concern for the human colonies since the biodomes were constructed far away from the volcanoes or the tectonic subduction zones.
Even possessing mapping probes in orbit, this planet remains not fully charted, perhaps due to the short time period of 10 years. Currently some ground-based teams are surveying the planet in order to shed some light on the history of the planet and the system.
Nova Rexina holds nearly 90% of heavy industrial facilities of the humans within the system, with most of the rest being in-situ space manufacturing stations. It has its own mining industry, harvesting frozen ice and CO2 from the north pole of the planet.
Despite the comparatively small scale, trading and resource transfer between systems is also a major employment source on the planet, and is continuously growing. Economists expected the planet to grow in importance thanks to the refinement of its mining production as well as the slow but steady growth of it's population.
