Within the outskirts of Nilus, far beyond the galaxy's silky clouds, lies a tiny area of space known as the Terran Bubble. While a young and tiny region, it has a deep and diverse heritage rife with brutal conflicts and dreadful atrocities. Tens of tiny interstellar governments strive for common resources, whereas many greater civilizations seek supremacy over broad swaths of untamed space. The United Terran Federation has been the region's defining civilization for centuries, outperforming its siblings by orders of magnitude.

The profoundly shattered state of the region further extends to its minorities, many of whom were exploited by states that ruled over the region with an iron fist. As an era of peace and unity begins to bloom in the Terran Bubble, the living conditions for minority races have only improved in quality, further attracting tourism within the region. Ever since the Ether War, technological progression has tremendously surged, as worlds upon worlds are settled and hundreds of corporations begin to rise through the ranks.

To this day, after many generations of ongoing expansion into the deep dark, the Terran Bubble remains largely untouched by any governmental entity. Hundreds of lush, untamed worlds patiently wait for one day to prosper under the hand of vast stellar alliances. The region's most pivotal world is Indar, an affluent ecomenopolis as well as a melting pot of many diverse cultures and exotic races. While the region boasts thousands of settled worlds, many are lightly founded colonies, and even the most densely populated ones fall short of Indar's level of influence.

Early History

Origins

The Terran Bubble's complex history can be traced back to Via Aylathiya five thousand years ago. A Thulcandran colony ship set its course for a nearby wormhole in 2,900 BTF. The wormhole experienced an abnormal phenomenon seconds after entering it, in which it shifted its path in an instant. The ship was severely damaged in a split second, killing and injuring many people on board. Explosions could be heard all over the place, but none were large enough to damage the spacecraft. The ship jumped out of the wormhole in a flash and landed in a completely different location than it was supposed to be. There were three heavenly, white galaxies in the horizons instead of an orange one. It wasn't a tropical aquatic world below; it was a cold and forested one. Many people fled to the escape pods, ditching the ship. Because the ship's controls were severely damaged, it was unable to alter its trajectory, which was directed towards the planet. The escape pods crashed at a distance from one another, and communications between them were disrupted.

Many were confused and terrified, yet it was something they'd trained for. Many were too busy licking their wounds to fight the planet's environment, and thus died. Some dedicated colonists managed to prevail in these unknown lands, forming independent colonies. When larger colonies were constructed, many expeditions were taken to the crashed ship. The technology from the ship was of great value to everyone, and soon a large expansion began. More colonies were founded, developing at exceptional speeds, although it took over two hundred years for the first urban centers to be created. During that time, humanity was organized into a single alliance, the Terran Civilization. The planet was named Theras in honor of one of the deceased colonists, who bravely gave his life for others.

Soon, mankind set unified goals for the exploration of space, and managed to quickly create a vast array of space stations. From there on, the moons of Theras were quickly inhabited. In only fifty years, most planets and moons in the Theras' system were inhabited in one way or another. Over a few decades, technology from the spacecraft was utilized to forge the first prototype Force Drive. At first, the Force Drive exploded, stunting humanity's cosmical expansion for a few years, ushering in a new dark age. In secret, a new prototype ship was developed, which this time worked perfectly. Following the triumph, humanity once again took to the stars, as it had a countless times prior. The first interstellar colonies saw great success and soon developed into flourishing cities. In seventy years, around twenty systems were greatly inhabited, including Tythia, the only habitable world populated at the time. Humanity became even more divided as a result of its success. In 2,504 BTF, humanity was split into two political factions, each with their own interstellar colonization ideologies.

Founding War

Main Article: Founding War

The newly founded Terran Civilization was divided into two opposing political factions: the Separatists and the Founders, each with their own vision for the nation. The Terran Civilization's political situation was severe, with two rival factions competing for possession of Theras and its surrounding territories. Any diplomatic solutions proposed were inadequate for one or more of the groupings. Following the diplomatic meetings, on 16th Tindal of 2,498 BTF, the Separatists launched an onslaught against the Founders' border patrol outposts, igniting the Founding War. The fight was first confined near the borders of the factions' territories, but as weeks progressed, so did the factions. The public was unaware of the clashes throughout the first phase of the Founding War, which lasted a week. Many Separatists enlisted into the fight were only informed that their training would take place along the border. While the Separatists were attacking, the Founders were said to have launched an invasion against them.

Only a week after the declaration of war, the Separatists raided one of the Founders' trading stations, cutting off several of the Founders' supply routes. The Separatists saw it as an opportunity to launch an offensive, and they executed accordingly. Tens of the Founders' stations were bombed, severely weakening them. As the Founders were wounded, multiple fights erupted near Theras, however none of them managed to get close to the planet. The Founders still maintained a few smaller fleets on standby, resulting in a month of minor ongoing conflict. In that period, the Founders had surreptitiously assembled a fearsome squadron of warships as a huge pushback. The fleet was vast since the Founders obtained resources from a much more developed state. All records pertaining to what nation it was are either missing or corrupted. It took the Founders only a week to construct the fleet, further proving that they received outside assistance.

The Founders quickly drove the Separatists back into their territory. When the vast Founder fleet arrived in orbit near Tythia, it orbitally bombarded the city world, leaving the Separatists without leaders and an army. With no one to lead them, and being vastly overpowered, the Separatists surrendered, bringing the short-lived conflict to a conclusion only two months after it began. The final border conflicts were resolved shortly afterward, and mankind was united once again. All disagreements were resolved, and a middle ground was established between the two ideologies. The end of the Founding War resulted in a number of significant changes, the most significant of which was the reformation of the Terran Civilization into the Terran Republic. In addition, the Terran National Alliance was established, which is tasked with maintaining peace through diplomatic means. In addition, a few technological advancements were accomplished, though there weren't many of them.

Harvester War

Main Article: Harvester War

While the newly created Terran Republic proceeded to spread into the depths of space, an unprecedented incident occurred in 2,475 BTF that would change the path of human history throughout the Terran Bubble. A freighter was traveling through uncharted space when it was abruptly jolted out of its jump state, which had previously been considered impossible. The majority of the power went out within a split second, and an organic-looking ship materialized in front of them. As the alien ship beamed a light on the freighter, the lights in the ship began to fluctuate. Following that, a strike was launched against the alien craft out of fear and terror. The ship began to pulsate in different colors and emit a deep sound, almost as if it were in agony. The ship then appeared to regenerate its lost portion in a fraction of a second. The alien ship's weapon system demolished the human freighter in an instant, killing everyone on board.

Over a hundred lost ships in a specific sector of space were reported in a year. The Terran Republic swiftly realized they'd been abducted by the previously met alien race and put the region on high alert. The Terran Republic was able to evacuate everyone from the area and close it off to all public vessels in just a few weeks. Small strikes on remote spaceports continued to occur in the months ahead, though the death toll quickly grew to significant numbers. To minimize mass hysteria, civilians were assured that the attacks were simple terrorist attacks and that everything was under control. This would soon change when an enormous mothership appeared in orbit around Arian and began sending forces down to the planet, quickly wiping off the majority of Arian's inhabitants. While Arian's defense forces retaliated, the invaders were more technically advanced. At this point, the general public was fully aware of the species and their attacks.

Around that time, the Anari Research Initiative arose, a research group dedicated to studying the nature and society of the Harvesters. While it began with only a few members, it quickly developed to a much greater size, ultimately being recognized and financed by the Terran Republic's government. The Anari Research Initiative is responsible for all Harvester information in the present day. The Harvesters, previously known as aliens or invaders, were named after their lifestyles, which comprised harvesting a world's resources until they ran out and then moving on to the next. Several Harvester specimens were captured by the Anari Research Initiative during the war and used for research. In addition, they captured many Harvester ships, and managed to reverse engineer their alien technologies with human ones, significantly improving mankind in terms of technology. Many of Anari's ships were provided to them by the government, which had discovered them before these species were even identified.
