The Small Magellanic Cloud (More commonly called the SMC, or, by natives, Ventemir) is one of the largest satellites of the Milky Way galaxy, ranking at the number five largest satellite galaxy of the Milky Way. The galaxy was home to at least four galactic-scale civilizations in its history. Currently, the Saka-Lowuks Entente occupies well over ninety percent of the galaxy. It is home to several species, the most common of which are the Atlins. Other species include the Orcubor and the Legionnaires.

The galaxy is an irregular galaxy with a diameter of thirteen thousand and it contains 3.1 billion stars, making it about one percent as large as the Milky Way. It is just under two-hundred-ten lightyears away from the Milky Way. The galaxy has a population of almost 120 sextillion.

The galaxy is littered with the remains of up to a dozen once-great civilizations, some from within and some from outside of the galaxy. These civilizations all seemed to last an average of two hundred thousand years before declining, collapsing, conquered, or simply disappeared from records. Most planets in the galaxy have, at some point or another, have artifacts from these civilizations. In fact, many planets are covered in metal oxides such as iron or titanium oxide, creating mono-color worlds toxic to most of the native life.

The Saka-Lowuks Entente

Currently, the Saka-Lowuks Entente claims the entirety of the galaxy, while, in actuality, the Federations of United Star Systems and several small civilizations control 100 million stars mostly on the side closest to the Milky Way. The nation has historically accepted refugees from wars, people looking for a new life, and sometimes even criminals from the Milky Way to bolster its own population.

The nation has refurbished the many ruined Dyson Swarms and other Megastructures. Large numbers of archeologists scour the galaxy looking for technologies more advanced than what is currently available, however, as the Entente advanced, it seems that there are less and less useful ruins they can find.

The Mini Magellanic Could

The Mini Magellanic Cloud or MMC (called Lowir), is a collection of about 50 million stars near to the Small Magellanic Cloud. Relative to the Milky Way, it is hidden from view by the SMC. The MMC is 30,000 lightyears behind the SMC, so it is largely considered to be a part of the SMC rather than an entirely different galaxy. Much like the rest of the SMC, there are ruins scattered throughout it. There have been no confirmed civilizations to have originated in this area.

Currently, the galaxy operates as a military base and bunker for the Saka-Lowuks Entente. The remains of a defunct wormhole gate near to Veritas were recently located to this galaxy. The government has been reluctant to release any information about the wormhole generator. The government has released only a handful of statements pertaining to the wormhole, most of the statements were commenting on recent turmoil and the neutrality of the Entente. The wormhole generator was mentioned in passing as a "means to avoid war even if it means leaving the area." It is unknown if this is a wormhole generator or some other means of transportation as of yet unknown to modern physics.

History

Existing for over 13 billion years, the SMC has had ample time for civilizations to form within it. Overall, there are thirteen confirmed extinct civilizations that have existed in the SMC. There are fifty other civilizations proposed to have existed in the SMC, but this lack enough evidence to be confirmed, or it is unknown if these artifacts are of extragalactic origin.

The First Republic of Ventemir

A large nation called Sedrua is the first confirmed civilization to have existed in this galaxy. It was not native to this galaxy, it merely set up colonies. The three functional wormhole gates in the SMC have all been repaired wormhole gates left behind by this civilization. When the Sedruan Civilization began to decline, it left billions of colonists in the SMC. These colonists went on to form the first confirmed civilization native to the galaxy was called the "First Republic of Ventemir." The nation occupied most of the Small Magellanic Cloud when it was founded in about 1.2 Million CE.

The only physical evidence of this civilization are some of the larger megastructures, such as the wormhole gates. They bear insignias entirely different from the Sedruans. Several members of the Legionnaire species were alive to see fleets that are likely from this nation. It is unknown if they are remembering the Republic or if they are remembering the original Sedruan nation. Only three of them actually described them as separate from the Sedruans.

Naoer

After The First Republic almost disappeared from the records in about one million BCE, another nation quickly took its place. This nation is called Naoer. This name was made up on a whim by an archeologist tried of calling it the "Small Magellanic Civilization of One million BCE."
