Yanrin is an aquaria located in the Otus system of the Locomra Galaxy. It was recently colonized by the eponymous Yanrin Colonization Company, whose primary operations are based on the planet. The planet is a relatively important center of industry, trade and finance in the region.

Yanrin has a radius of roughly 11,000 kilometers, resulting in a gravitational pull of 0.6 Earth gravity. It has one single moon, Montraxas, with Yanrin and Montraxas being tidally locked with each other. Yanrin has a rotational period of slightly above 4 days. The planet's climate is largely similar year-round, with seasonal variations minimal due to its small axial tilt of just 0.5 degrees.

The planet's natural atmosphere is thin but significant at around 400 Pa. There are considerable quantities of water ice and occasional streams of liquid ice beneath its frozen surface, intermixed with silica and iron oxides. No natural biological life has been found on the planet prior to human colonization.

Yanrin, alongside the rest of the Otus system, was first explored and mapped on 199,830 by the Yanrin Colonization Company, a newly founded firm which at that time was primarily conducting exploration missions. By 199,833, the company had decided to set up an initial base of operations at the planet and rename it based on the company's own founder. As the YCC was a new firm, it had not been able to secure an E-Class planet, as larger intergalactic firms had largely staked their claims on E-Class planets discovered within 100 light years of the Locomra's wormhole to the Large Magellanic Cloud.

Due to the corporation's small size and lack of renown, it took some time before YCC managed to secure its first batch of colonists who wished to stake their claims on the planet. The first group of 1,000 colonists arrived on 199,837, and by 199,840 18,600 people was living on the planet, including 300 YCC employees. While the planet's mineral deposits were not particularly rich, it still managed to produce enough to sustain its economy and slowly attract colonists. Through some debt, the YCC managed to set up processing industries on the planet, and before long the colony was exporting industrial products to the other extractive human colonies in Locomra.

As Yanrin continued to industrialize, funded by YCC's increasing profits and participation of colonist entrepreneurs, it became a major attraction for immigrants in its sector of Locomra, only losing out to several E-Class worlds and quickly becoming the most populated human D-Class planet within 50 light years. By 199,900, the population was past 1.5 million, with domed cities and towns beginning to dot the planet as the factories created more demand for mining. Throughout the 199,900s, Yanrin's economic and demographic expansion continued, as YCC began to colonize the system in full to expand the industry on Yanrin. Sustained growth of the population despite living under the domes meant that the planet reached a population of 100 million by 199,976 and 200 million by 199,998.

This increased population in turn resulted in the YCC investing in expanding Yanrin's atmosphere, which has gradually increased to roughly 0.25 atm by 200,000. This increase in the greenhouse effect and industrial heat also increased the planetary temperature.

As a largely corporate planet, the economy of Yanrin is reliant on the extraction of minerals, coupled with its processing and ensuing manufacturing of products. Due to the relatively high industrialization on the planet, there are factories which manufacture a variety of tools and equipment used in the ongoing human expansion within Locomra. The Yanrin Spaceyard, founded in 199,935, is the largest and second human spaceyard in the galaxy.

Yanrin has also become the primary hub of trade and services for the immediate sector of space surrounding it, which it economically and demographically dominates. The Yanrin Stock Exchange, founded in 199,993, is where the YCC manages its stock alongside a number of local entrepreneurs and companies. While the YCC still plays a significant part in the economy, the colonist-established firms also play a significant part. It was estimated that the planet's annual GDP was approximately 32 trillion C-Units in 199,999, or approximately 156,000 C-Units per capita.

As with other human colonies in the galaxy, Yanrin is under the sovereignty of the Confederacy of Borealis. Due to a lack of any major issues or hostile forces known in the region, however, the Confederacy only has a single representative office on the planet's chief settlement of Yanrin Alpha, and does not maintain any military force on the planet. The planet's local defense force consists of just 5,000 volunteers, and is largely used to maintain peace and partly as emergency responders.

While the YCC has rights to significant still-unclaimed swathes of the planet, it had sold or gave away rights to most of the populated regions of Yanrin to colonists who now live there, and the governance of these settlements are often a source of dispute between YCC and the colonists. For the most part, however, both groups generally respect one another's position, and there has not been any significant unrest since the planet's colonization. The colonists have established a legislative arm, the Yanrin People's Council, in a power-sharing agreement with the YCC, who sends corporate representatives numbering one-fifth of the council and have the rights to ignore those laws in the parts of the planet it still controlled. Executive power is held by a dual presidency, one elected by colonists and the other appointed by YCC. Judicial powers are exercised largely by colonial judges instead of by YCC, except for matters internal to the company.

Yanrin is the capital of the aptly named Yanrin Sector, presently the youngest, smallest, and least populated of the three sectors established in the galaxy under the Confederate government. Yanrin presently still hosts a supermajority of the sector's population on its planetary surface, although gradual colonization of the other systems have been promoted.
